(There also was a plethora of more fancy chickpea recipes, including chickpea curries and roasted chickpeas and several other salads that could suite anyones fancy. … The key may be everything but the chickpeasI love garlic, red onion and tomato, and there was enough flavor to make up for the slightly lackluster chickpeas. I found a new frugal lunch!…I chose to supplement this lunch with some tomato avocado soup I made several days ago, but I found it quite filling and you might be able to get by just on this i f you dont eat big lunches. … T suggested cooking some shrimp pineapple curry this weekend, and also some hot spinach artichoke dip….

Its known generally as vegetarian food , as vegetables and other non-meat products make up the dishes. Some people patronise this kind of establishments for religious reasons others like us for food. While a few actually believe that these kind of stuff are good ( health, heart & soul ) for you ! Our foray into uncharted territory has an extra soft intro something like this the setting is like any other air-cond restaurant , except that here in Ayer Tawar Perak , it is a novelty to enjoy

I realised the other day that it had been a long time since Cindy and I had made a Thai curry at home. We’ve ventured out for (unblogged) takeaway a few times, but it’s been nothing but Pad Thai coming out of our kitchen. Luckily, as soon as I mentioned this to Cindy, she pointed me in the direction this recipe from Lucy at Nourish Me. We’re entirely on Lucy’s side when it comes to coriander - both of us are huge fans of its sharp flavours. As an added bonus, we don’t have any problem with tofu

… a fish dish or two, duck breast, and a couple comfort-food-type choices like a fried chicken with truffle sauce, or a gourmet meatloaf. … On my most recent visit, I chose the green peppercorn New York Strip with a cognac glaze, and my wife had the seared Ahi Tuna. Both were fantastic….They are very aromatic and they have a completely different, and brighter, flavor than their fermented brothers, black peppercorns. … The cognac sauce was sweet and flavorful….

We’ll head off to the supermarket later, to pick up fresh fruits, more veggies, lamb, beef, turkey and anything else I can find on our joint lists and then I can c ook up a storm. … I’m thinking a curry of some sort, maybe with a split pea daal (see recipes in BTD database for Chana Daal),…

Because I didn’t want to write a too short journal entry, I checked some search engines on vegetable curry and found this:

Indian Lentil Soup

I love Indian flavours and lentils so I was excited to find this soup! It’s really tasty! This is a fairy quick meal so it’s good for a weeknight dinner when paired with a salad or some brown rice. Makes 2 servings (excuse the weird amounts - I divided a recipe by 3!) Ingredients: 1/3-2/3 cup green lentils 1/3 onion, chopped 1/4 tsp. ground cumin 1/12 tsp. turmeric 1/6 tsp. coriander 1/6 tsp. curry powder 1 small clove of garlic, minced 1/8 cup carrot, diced 1/12 cup oatmeal 1/3 tsp. tomato pa

Hmmm, I have too look further into that for my Cooking blog.

McCormick Releases Their 2008 Flavor Forecast.

Since 2000, spice heavyweight, McCormick and Company, has issued their Flavor Forecast that tells us what hot trendy flavor combos will rule for the next 12 months. The list is carefully made up by consulting their extensive network of researchers, trend experts, chefs, food technologists and sensory analysts, as well as gouing outside the company to talk with restaurant chefs, cookbook authors and TV food personalities. Last year featured a lot of sweet and zesty combos, such as wasabi &am
