Cold Savory Soups for Hot Days

People are always asking me to blog more often, well here you go, I searched for some information on ‘curry paste’.

2 tablespoons curry powder (preferably the fresh kind that you make yourself, see Homemade Curry Powder) … Mix a tablespoon or so cornstarch with enough water to make a loose paste….If you use the paste, reconstitute one teaspoon of paste for each cup of water) … Don’t let the name fool you–cauliflower curry soup is righteous!…

A Surry Hills Girl

People are always asking me to write more often, well here you go, I searched for some info on ‘curry soup’.

“Now Hughie had, long ago, been a shearers’ cook, and could make a curry hot, sweet and luscious, with surprising bits of chopped-up date, green peaches, and sliced b anana floating mysteriously in it. … And he could make soup, and brownie, and the curiously named sea pie, which is nothing more than a stew with an oversize dumpling roofing it….

Well, Shit! Happy Half-Assed Vegan Anniversary to Me!

I totally thought my vegan anniversary was in February, so here I am all ho-humming away, just waiting to bust out my list of favorite recipes from the past year. And then suddenly today I noticed that my anniversary was back on January 22 and that I’m just a moron. So then I thought maybe I got confused because my BLOG anniversary was in February. But that’s in March. So I’m just like Moron to the 100th Power. Moron me up! Woot woot! Anyways, since today’s about midway between both anniversari

Quick & Easy Stir-Fry

I’ve a passion for Cooking and keep looking for good articles. Today, I checked if I could find more info by entering ‘curry sauce recipe’ in Google and found this:

I think my favories are sushi and thai food (lemongrass, flavorful curry, pad thai, peanut sauce, oh I could go on), … but I must confess that having a basic Chinese-style stir fry recipe on hand can be a lifesaver for using up whatever you have on hand and quickly putting food on t he table at an affordable price….

Hmmm, not exactly what I was looking for, but a good read nevertheless.

Simple Punjabi Homestyle Comfort Food: Keema Mattar

Keema mattar is one of the easiest north Indian dishes to prepare, and one of he most satisfying. It is nothing more than spiced minced meat, usually lamb, cooked with peas. The combination of the hearty meat and the sweetness of the peas is soul-stirring, and it is great served either with warm naan or steamed basmati rice or rice pillau. I like to have some kind of raita, preferably cucumber, or perhaps potato and carrot, and a green chutney and maybe some spicy lime pickles with keema matt

power puffs

All my friends know curry puff is my all-time favourite snack….I rationalised that it’s really not easy to make good curry puffs….Instead, this curry puff recipe caught my eyes and I was very inspired to give it a shot….So if you know anywhere else that sells tasty curry puffs, I’ll appreciate if you leave me a comment….

Passing Thoughts

Today I used Live search to find more information on ‘curry college’.. And this is one of the first results I found:

The monthly post over at WireTap Mag I wrote this under the influence of being maybe too honest and forthcoming. Maybe. Stories cull writers from the world. Stories reveal themselves to us. The public narrative, the private narrative — they colonise us. They commission us. They insist on being told. Fiction and non-fiction are only different techniques of storytelling. For reasons I do not fully understand, fiction dances out of me. Non-fiction is wrenched out by the aching, broken world I wa

I Like CCF Too!

When I first moved to Cheras, I found that the CCF (chee cheong fun or rice rolls) here are kinda special; they sell in on a cart and you get to pick your preferred side accompaniments such as fish balls, ham balls, fu chok (beancurd sheet), crabmeat sticks, stuffed tofu, fried wantan, seafood tofu etc etc. The boss will then add on the gravy of your choice (either curry or thick brown sweet gravy). But I want my CCF with mushroom gravy, pickled green chillies and plenty of sesame seeds sp

Toasted Millet Salad

Today I was digging for some info on ‘curry recipe’ and came across the following paragraph:

I like Miso, and have seen many recipes for miso dressing, but I havent used it as the main component in a dressing and I really enjoyed it. … The curry gave it the extra deliciousness that made it fan-freaking-tastic….It was a Toasted Millet Salad with Roasted Garlic Chickpeas and Curry Miso Vinaigrette. … The recipe called for cooked Chickpeas, however my very favorite way to cook them is in a pan on lowish heat with a few drops of toasted sesame oil and a big ol heaping pile of garlic….The Curry Miso dressing called for 1 1/4 cups (YES - CUPS!!!) I didnt add nearly that much, probably closer to 1/3 of a cup. My dressing was really, really thick. … I could have cut it down, but I like to try recipes close to the original for the dry run and then change it up to suit myself =)…

Taste of Tuesday 24-Lemon Plum Chicken

I’ve a passion for Cooking and keep looking for more info. Today, I checked if I could find more info by entering ‘curry house’ in Google and found this:

Years ago, while listening to the radio, I heard about a recipe I wanted to try. A couple of local ladies Dianne Parker and Barbara Harding, had a cookbook Victorian Tea House Recipes published, in which was the recipe for Lemon Plum Chicken. I listened carefully to the recipe and decided to get the book. I love the cover of the book which you can see by pressing on the link, and you can buy it there too. I do love the book and have made a few of the recipes. One of the things they suggested w

Dinners at home

4/3/2008 - Jac cooked up some potatoes with mixed herbs, topped with a little melted cheese. She served the potato dish with lamb steaks which shed marinated with a tasty combination of Worchestershire sauce, tomato sauce, garlic and fresh rosemary and then pan-fried, and a vegetable medley, of carrot, peas and corn. Shed cooked the lamb so it was still pinkish (not bloody though, I dont do bloody!) and so very tender. 5/3/2008 - Id had an energy and spirit-sapping day at work, and
